It is clear that the discussion is confused about some of the issues I outlined here.

Specifically, requests to change the label from 'sex' to 'gender' are misguided if the intent is to represent sex.

Also, sex is not an appropriate relation (or Object Property in RDF/OWL speak).

Basically, the current formulation states that to state that someone is the bearer of a male sex quality, you have to relate the person (the domain of the relation) to some instance of a "person who is male" (definition of Q6581097). This kind of statement is nonsense. It is not the case that for every person, there is some other person to which he/she is related that makes him/her male/female. Or I suppose, it could be a reflexive only relation, but then you are saying that every person is related to his/her "male person"/"female person", which is also ridiculous.Spero meliorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02901243791277286329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18997019.post-45806842117869075962013-05-28T17:13:55.545-04:002013-05-28T17:13:55.545-04:00Old post, eternal topic. I cite the case of deciding which stall to use for a steer vs. an intact bull. "Bed assignment" applies. They don't like to hear things like that.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09691531643381661914noreply@blogger.com
